About Me

A sign above the bar at the Oceana restaurant in New Orleans says it best for me. "I wasn't born in the south...but I got here as fast as I could!".
Originally from Beverly, Massachusetts, and then Atkinson, New Hampshire, I was introduced to square dancing in 1987 with the "Down East Westerners" of Kittery, Maine. Before graduating from my first class, I knew I wanted to be a square dance caller, and I called my first dance in 1988.
I am now based in Houston, Texas, but over the past nearly 25 years, I've had the pleasure of calling square dances in nearly half the states in the country. I love to travel. I am a member of the Texas State Callers Association and Tri-State Callers Association, as well as CALLERLAB (The International Association of Square Dance Callers). Through CALLERLAB I am licensed to perform BMI/ASCAP music and I maintain a liablilty insurance policy.
I call introductory programs through the CALLERLAB Advanced program. While most dancers know me for my high energy or singing voice or dedication to entertainment, my true passion has always been teaching.
In the past several years I have had the opportunity to write articles that were featured in American Square Dance Magazine. I have started to teach callers as well. Also, in late 2011, I began producing square dance music on my own square dance label...EGO Recordings.
